Review:In this fast paced action packed game players choose one of six factions, both human and alien, and take control of heavy cruisers and mighty battleships as they set out to conquer their part of the ‘Stormzone’. All factions use ships that have a unique look and feel and each fleet uses different technology and weapons. The Terran faction builds very stable and durable ships while the ships of the Dindrenzi federation seem designed to just punch the boosters and go into battle guns blazing, and where the alien ships of the Sorylians focus heavily on broadside firepower and can be very aggressive boarders the Relthoza like to fight their games at long range with their stealth systems making them practically invisible. Each fleet offers a very different style of play, interesting options and tactics and all together unique experience that never seems to get old. Should the starterfleet over time ‘grow small’, players can always expand their force by adding frigates, escorts, carriers, R&D cruisers and destroyers.
FA should be very popular with veteran wargamers as well as anyone interested in playing scifi tabletop games for two reasons. Compared to most wargames out there it’s surprisingly affordable and apart from that regular 500-1000 point battles tend to take but a fraction of the time most other wargames take while still providing a very tactical and highly intense experience. Those of you not yet into FA would do well blindly purchasing the Firestorm rulebook that offers the rules for each and every faction and also contains three complete cut out starterfleets and a massive token set with which dozens of games can immediately be played. So stock up on torpedoes, gather the fleet and reclaim the galaxy!

Setting: Pirates, fantasy
Compatible with: -Minimal starting costs: $-,--/€-.--/£ -,--Description:Freebooter's Fate is a small skirmish game that's entirely done without the need for dice. Each player takes a crew of as few as 3 to 10 swashbucklers (pirates, naval armada, assassins, goblins or amazons so far) to go head to head in scenery heavy towns, completing various missions.
The combat system mixes a random factor of cards (cards numbered 1 to 10, 4 of each available) with a bluff system. Players need to decide which body parts to attack while their opponent tries to defend just those parts. Getting important bodyparts damaged can be debilitating to your characters abilities, so attacking and defending the right parts can be crucial.
Each force distinguishes itself by by both looks as well as playing style; where the assassins are suberb warriors but few in numbers, goblins use strength in numbers while the armada makes use of powerfull long ranged weaponry.
Random factors like determining damage, turn order etc. are done by drawing a fate card, adding the appropriate value and comparing this to your opponents addition.
Using scenery, making attacks at someone's back, grouping up against some and many more such tactics are what will win or lose you a game.

Description:The game pits opponents against each other with 1 (or more) warlocks that can cast magical spells by leeching on the fury of savage beasts. Supported my troops and heroic units this is a medium sized skirmish game. The game is set in a unique world that mixes sci-fi elements in with magic and swords. The Hordes part of the privateer press universe focusses more on savage, occult or otherwise more primitive cultures while warmachine focusses on technologically advanced races that use various powersources fuel their technology. The mechanics of the game rely on rolling 2 to 4 D6 dice with an added stat value, and comparing this with an opposing value, and beating the value means a hit or a number of wounds dealt. The game draws heavily on the role of the caster (warlock) that leeches fury (action tokens) from his (or her) warbeasts to use as mana to cast spells. A synergy between individual units and a sense of punctuality are key factors that can make or break a game.

Description: A small scaled skirmish game thats easy to play in between things due to it's relatively short game length. Small groups of so called supremes clash in a classing heroes versus villains setting in a comic style 1980's city. The refreshing thing about the game is that it focuses on interaction with the environment, from helping or annoying civilians to throwing parked cars at your opponent.
The game is slowly growing so figures aren't released that often and the game has few well stocked international vending points which is it's great flaw. Currently the masterminds behind the game are working on an expansion that incorporates large Godzilla type monsters to be defeated by the supremes.
The mechanics of the game relies heavily on opposed rolls with a D6 that are supplemented with stats varying from 1 to 6 which are found on plastic statcards that come with the figures. Movement is at an average of 4" and a gameboard is between 24" and 36" squared making this game quick to set up. A team consists of either heroes or villains supplemented by neutral supremes. While there are teams in the story behind the games, and these usually have more synergy with each other, no obligations are made other than the hero/villain difference (and of course levels to keep the game balanced). Besides selecting supremes the players also selects either minion creatures like gangsters, cops and robots, equipment or a mix of both.
